Thornley Chapel

Joseph H. Thornley was a charter member of the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association. The first religious meeting was held in Ocean Grove on July 30, 1869 in his tent. After his death in February, 1889, his life-long wish for a chapel in Ocean Grove was granted by the Board of Trustees, and a building at the corner of Pilgrim Pathway and Mt. Tabor Way was remodeled and converted into the chapel that still bears his name. The first Sunday Worship service held here was June 30th, 1889.
